What to Expect. . .

TWIM retreats are structured courses for learning and development guided by trained and dedicated Instructors. They provide participants at all levels of meditation experience an ideal container to practice and progress smoothly the stages of awakening. The course cultivate balanced tranquility and awareness leading to insight leading to awakening as described by the Buddha. TWIM is ideal of those new to meditation as well a those with previous experience. The goal is to smoothly experience progress through the stages of meditation. One-on-one daily teacher interviews provide every participants with personalized instruction and coaching. The course objectives include:
 
  1. Maintain an ethical code of conduct (sīla). It is a necessary foundation for steady mind and calm body.
  2. Learn the”the four right efforts” as taught by the Buddha by using the Six Rs methodology—a cornerstone of ealry Buddhist practice. 
  3. Develop sublime benevolence with loving-kindness (metta) compassion, altruistic joy, and equanimity (Brahmaviharas).
  4. Experience the stages of meditation (jhāna​) leading to tranquility (samatha), stillness (natural samādhi) and insight (vipassanā) leading to awakening (nirvāṇa) (Pali: nibbāna).
